Position:                                Wait Staff/ Beverage Cart Staff

Reports to:                             Food and Beverage Coordinator

Status:                                    Part Time Class 2

FLSA Classification:             Non-Exempt

IMRF:                                      Non-Eligible

 

General Statement of Duties

Serve patrons in a timely and courteous manner.  Attend to the dining room counter and restock product in coolers as needed.

 

Qualifications

High school diploma. Prior waiter/waitress experience preferred. Minimum age of 21 with a valid driver’s license in order to serve alcohol in Illinois. Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel. Food Sanitation License and B.A.S.S.E.T. training preferred.

 

 Representative Essential Job Functions

  • Maintains a positive community image for the District.
  • Strives to maintain a positive environment among the District’s organizational divisions.
  • Actively supports the Safety Policy and the District’s established loss control program, including training, safety rules, and developing ideas for the prevention of incidents, while providing a safe environment for Park District staff members and patrons.
  • Greet and attend to patrons in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Manage and re-stock coolers as needed.
  • Clean coffee pots and dining room as needed.
  • Keep server area clean and neat.
  • Bus tables when needed.
  • Assist beverage cart person with stocking and re-stocking of cart.
  • Responsible for ringing in moneys for beverage cart personnel.
  • Dress appropriately and neatly in uniform.

 

Representative Marginal Job Functions

  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.
  • Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing procedures for all stations.  Assists others in closing kitchen.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Food and Beverage Manager.
  • Notifies Golf Course Manager or Kitchen Manager of any needs of supplies and or equipment that needs to be reordered.
  • Performs other duties relating to the position as directed or delegated
  • Attends meetings, training sessions and seminars as assigned
  • Assists other Park District staff members as needed
  • Trash pickup  
  • Snow removal
  • Shop and building cleaning
  • Painting
  • Washing Walls and Floors
  • Cleaning Carpets
  • Janitorial Duties

 

Position Considerations

  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).
  • Position requires working evenings, weekends, and extended days.
  • Successfully work in a team, task oriented environment

 

Safety and Risk Management

  • Use material-handling equipment or staff assistance when lifting and or moving objects of 50lbs or greater.
  • Promptly report any work-related or patron related injuries to supervisor.
  • Correct unsafe conditions and/or report them to a supervisor.
  • Becomes thoroughly familiar with the Safety Manual Contents.
  • Properly orients and continues to train employees on safety procedures.
  • Cooperates with the Safety Coordinator in implementing all aspects of the safety policies and procedures as outlined by the Park District.

 

Must be able to use personal protective equipment based on job specific tasks and may include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Safety goggles/ glasses
  • Earplugs, ear covers
  • Appropriate work boot
  • Protective gloves
  • Helmets

Education and /or Experience

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, and individual should have knowledge of the internet.

Certificates, License, Registrations

Must have a valid Illinois Driver's License.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to gasoline, oils and cleaning chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
