Position: Youth Athletics Referee
Reports to: Athletic Program Supervisor
Status: Part Time Class 2
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
IMRF: Non-Eligible
General Statement of Position:
This position is responsible for officiating scheduled soccer games coordinated by the Athletic Program Supervisor
Qualifications:
14 years of age. Have a valid Illinois driver’s license or work permit. Past referee experience is desired. Past experience playing soccer is a must. Knowledge of soccer rules is a must. Responsible and reliable. Ability to work multiple games in a row.

Representative Essential Job Functions:
- Maintains a positive community image for the District.
- Strives to maintain a positive environment among the District’s organizational divisions.
- Actively supports the Safety Policy and the District’s established loss control program, including training, safety rules, and developing ideas for the prevention of incidents, while providing a safe environment for Park District staff members and patrons.
- Arrives early to assist in field set up.
- Displays enthusiasm for sports.
- Enforces the Channahon Park District Rules during assigned games.
- Ability to see play with sufficient clarity to make accurate decisions.
- Ability to communicate with coaches and participants.
- Must maintain First Aid and CPR Certifications.
Representative Marginal Job Functions:
- Ability to assist in instructing participants.
- Administer CPR or First aid when necessary.
- Direct anyone to supervisors and park district facilities.
- Attend to any questions pertaining to other park district program.
Position Considerations:
- Potentially stressful situations associated with children’s programming, particularly any behavioral problems that may occur.
- Demonstrate good judgment when dealing with staff, participants and parents.
- Position will require standing for extended periods of time.
- Exposed to the elements. Outdoor games may be played in the cold and rain, or heat and sunshine.
- Demonstrate good judgments, appropriate level of response and logical thought process in the execution of the duties and responsibilities.
- Qualified referees maybe eligible for future Youth Athletic Program instructional job opportunities.
